Ill Fitting Dentures?
Tooth loss due to an injury, decay or aging doesn’t have to be a permanent condition. Thanks to modern dental technology, there is a popular and effective treatment for tooth loss and replacement for loose dentures. It is a permanent, long-lasting solution offering the strongest support for replacement teeth.
Benefits of Dental Implants
Dental implants are an extremely effective treatment for tooth loss. They look and function just like your natural teeth and give you back the confidence to eat, speak and smile freely again. Patients especially enjoy not having to think about going through another procedure because implants are meant to last decades. Additional benefits, include:
- Improved speech — Missing teeth can cause you to slur your words or mumble
Enjoy all kinds of food without worry - No additional care — Clean them as you would your natural teeth, with daily brushing and flossing
- Provide support for the rest of your teeth — Gaps in your teeth can cause adjacent teeth to shift out of position
- Improve your oral health-missing teeth can cause the jaw bone to degenerate, implants are the only dental option that actually stimulates the bone and keeps it healthy.
How Implants Work
Dental implants are a multi-step process. First, we conduct a thorough examination to determine if the treatment is right for you. If we move forward, at your next appointment the titanium implant will be surgically placed in your jawbone where it eventually bonds with the natural bone. The healing process can take anywhere from 2 to 6 months. Since they fuse with the bone, they will not move or slip-creating a strong base.
Once the healing is complete, an abutment will be placed in the implant, which will support the replacement tooth, or crown. The crown is designed to look like a natural tooth and is made to match the rest of your teeth with hardly any noticeable difference.
Once the crown is made, we will then place it on the abutment. While the entire dental implant process depends on each patient’s needs, it typically can take between 2 and 8 months to complete. The results are well worth it!
